Helpful Tips from Your Trusted Pet Sitter in Westminster
Leaving your pup in someone else’s care, whether it’s just for the day or for an overnight farm stay, can come with a lot of questions. As your go-to pet sitter in Westminster, I’m here to make the transition smooth, stress-free, and even fun for your dog. One of the best ways to set your pet up for a successful stay is to pack the right items. Here’s a handy guide to help you prepare for daycare drop-offs or longer visits to the farm.
Food & Treats
Just like us, dogs feel their best when sticking to their regular diet. Please pack:
-
Enough food for the duration of their stay (plus a little extra, just in case)
-
Any special treats they’re allowed to have
-
Clear instructions on feeding amounts and schedules
-
Food stored in labeled, sealable containers or bags
We’re happy to refrigerate raw or homemade diets and can accommodate unique feeding routines. Just let us know!
Comfort Items from Home
New environments can be exciting, but a bit overwhelming at first. Comfort items can help your pup settle in quickly:
-
A favorite blanket or bed that smells like home
-
A beloved toy or chew
-
A worn t-shirt or pillowcase with your scent
For overnight guests staying at the farm, familiar items can really help them relax into their cozy, kennel-free stay.
Medications & Supplements
If your dog takes daily medication or supplements, we’re more than happy to administer them at no extra charge. Just pack:
-
Clearly labeled medications
-
Dosing instructions and timing
-
Any special tips for giving meds (peanut butter helps!)
If your pup has medical needs beyond basic medication, please reach out ahead of time so we can discuss how best to support them.
Leash, Collar & ID Tags
All dogs should arrive with:
-
A well-fitting collar with up-to-date ID tags
-
A sturdy leash for hand-offs and potty breaks
-
Optional: harnesses, especially for dogs who pull or are reactive
If your dog uses a slip lead or prong collar for walks, please bring those as well and let us know your preferences.
Special Requests Welcome!
As a dedicated pet sitter, I understand that every dog is different. Whether your pup needs belly rubs before bed, has a quirky feeding habit, or is nervous around other animals, I’m happy to customize their care:
-
Just leave a note with anything you’d like us to know
-
We’ll follow your routine as closely as possible
-
Only dogs from the same household are cared for at the same time, so your pet gets our full attention
