A Day in the Life of a Pet Sitter: What We Do and Why We Love It

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be a professional pet sitter, let us take you behind the scenes! At Paws and Pastures Pet Care, we provide loving and reliable Carroll County pet sitting and Frederick County pet care services. Every day is different, but one thing remains the same, our commitment to keeping pets happy, safe, and well cared for while their owners are away.

Morning: Starting the Day with Wagging Tails & Purring Friends

The day starts early as we check our schedule and head out for our first pet visits. Many of our clients have pets who need morning walks, breakfast, and a little playtime before their owners start their day.

  • Dog Walks & Potty Breaks – For our canine clients, we follow their regular walk schedule, ensuring they get plenty of exercise and fresh air. We clean up after them, check their water bowls, and provide lots of love and attention.

  • Feeding & Medication – For pets with special dietary needs or medications, we carefully follow the owner’s instructions to ensure they get what they need.

  • Litter Box & Small Pet Care – Cats and other small animals also need morning care, including fresh water, clean litter, and feeding.

Midday: Enrichment & Check-Ins

By midday, we’re on the road again for drop-in visits, which are great for pets who need extra companionship or a midday break. This is a great time for:

  • Longer Walks & Playtime – We take energetic dogs for longer walks or play fetch in the yard.

  • Puppy & Senior Pet Care – Puppies often need an extra potty break, while senior pets may need help with mobility or medication.

  • Farm & Exotic Pet Visits – For clients with farm animals or exotic pets, we check on food, water, and their overall well-being.

During each visit, we provide pet parents with an update, including photos and notes about their pet’s day.

Evening: Dinner Time & Overnight Care

As the day winds down, we complete evening visits and overnight stays for clients who need around-the-clock care for their pets.

  • Dinner & Medication Routines – We follow feeding schedules, administer medications if needed, and provide cuddles and attention.

  • Overnight Stays – Some pets do better with overnight companionship, so we offer in-home overnight stays to provide a stress-free experience.

Why We Love What We Do

Providing Carroll County pet sitting and Frederick County pet care isn’t just a job—it’s our passion! We love building relationships with both pets and their owners. Every wagging tail, happy purr, and excited greeting reminds us why we do what we do.

Our goal is to ensure your pet is happy, healthy, and stress-free while you’re away. Whether it’s daily walks, in-home visits, or overnight stays, we treat every pet as if they were our own.
